Never miss a vaccination again : the no-memory method

A missed booster means at best a protocol to start again, at worst a horse barred from a competition or a yard left exposed. And yet in most businesses it all still rests on a notebook and a good memory.

Why memory is no longer enough

Ten horses can be managed from memory. Thirty horses with different protocols (flu alone, flu-tetanus, rhinopneumonitis for the broodmares, rabies for the travellers), staggered dates and boosters that shift as soon as one injection is late, is beyond any human memory.

The no-memory method

• One record per horse, one single source of truth. Every vaccination entered once, on the day of the injection, with that horse's protocol. No more three notebooks contradicting each other.
• Reminders worked out, not guessed. The next booster follows from the protocol : it is a calculation, so it is a job for software, not for the yard owner.
• An alert before the due date, not after. Being warned three weeks ahead gives you time to group the horses and call the vet once, instead of three separate visits.
• The same system for everything else. Worming, teeth, shoeing, compulsory visits : a reminder is a reminder. Once the habit is there for the vaccinations, the whole health of the yard goes on autopilot.

One afternoon, and never think about it again
