Owners : stop being at your riders' beck and call (they will love you even more)

You opened a riding school out of love for horses. Ten years later you have become a switchboard that smells of muck. Calls at 9.30pm, WhatsApp on Sunday, the same question twelve times a day.

How you become your riders' servant (without noticing)

It starts gently. You give out your personal number « for emergencies ». You answer a message on a Sunday, just once, to be helpful. You confirm a booking out loud because it is simpler. Every gesture is tiny, every gesture is kind. And every gesture teaches your whole club the same thing : to find anything out, you have to ask the owner.

Multiply that by 120 families. The time of Saturday's lesson ? They call you. Which pony is Léa riding ? They text you. How many lessons left on the card ? They catch you between two lessons. You are no longer a teacher, a business owner or a horseman : you have become your own club's search engine, available seven days a week, with no off switch.

It is not a kindness problem, it is an architecture problem

The usual reflex is to blame yourself : « I should set boundaries ». But set boundaries without changing anything else, and you get frustrated riders AND a guilty owner. The real problem lies elsewhere : if all the club's information exists only in your head, then your head is the only desk. People do not disturb you out of rudeness : they disturb you because they have no other way of knowing.

The 10-question test : write down every question you are asked for two days. You will see that 8 out of 10 have a factual answer that already exists somewhere.

The way out : make the information findable without you

The answer is not to reply faster. It is to make sure nobody needs to ask you any more. The diary and online booking, the mounting board visible to everyone, invoices in each family's account.

Every piece of information made public in your software is a whole category of requests that disappears. Not because you said no. Not because anyone got annoyed. Simply because the question no longer arises.

The most counter-intuitive part : your riders prefer it

People think being permanently available keeps riders. The opposite is true. A mother who has to call you to find out a time is a mother who depends on your availability, and who ends up finding you unreachable.

And that is where the relationship changes in nature : when nobody talks logistics with you any more, they start talking ridingwith you again.

Take back your evenings (and your Sundays)

Online diary, automatic mounting board, invoices available : it is all in the free version, for life.
